Danish Agritech sold in Uganda via A2i Project

Our DMDP GRAIN project has reached an important milestone as Gl. Buurholt has successfully sold a seed cleaner to Okeba Uganda Limited. Okeba Uganda Limited is a Ugandan agribusiness company focused on buying, aggregating, storing, processing, and marketing agricultural produce from smallholder farmers.

“It is great that our demo plant has been sold so it can really get up and running now. The plant has been rented out to Søren Næsborg at his farm in Uganda, but now it’s moving on to Okeba,” says the CEO of Gl. Buurholt, Visti Møller. He continues:

“Okeba is a seed company, so unfortunately, it’s not a ‘village’ that has bought the plant. But now it will benefit many farmers in Uganda.”

The project partners are optimistic that additional agreements will follow in the near future. The sale marks a positive step in strengthening local agricultural processing capacity in Uganda and demonstrates growing interest in modern grain-handling solutions. In addition to the completed sale, around eight further potential sales have been initiated, with ongoing follow-up activities involving partner banks to support financing and implementation.

Let's Open Kenya and Tanzania for Your Business

The Danish Agriculture & Food Council, Access2Innovation, and the Danish Embassy in Tanzania and Kenya are pleased to invite your company to participate in our next 2026 agribusiness delegations:

Why Tanzania?

Tanzania is one of Africa’s most fertile and open countries. It has ambitious growth targets and an agribusiness sector full of opportunities. This delegation visit will enable Danish companies to meet local key partners and potential customers, display their products and services, and gain first-hand knowledge about the Tanzanian agribusiness industry and market.

Key aspects of Tanzanian agribusiness:

  • The agricultural sector in Tanzania accounts for a significant part of the country’s GDP and export earnings. With the agricultural sector employing approximately 70% of the population, the sector plays a crucial part in the country’s economy.
  • Tanzania is very close to its target of lower-middle-income status – partly through serious reform of the agricultural sector from subsistence farming to commercial farming. The sector is now more competitive and profitable.
  • Urbanization is high, the middle class is growing, and demand for agricultural production is increasing.
  • All of the above offer great opportunities for Danish companies. The demand for high-quality production and processing equipment, cold-chain facilities, and packaging and storing facilities is high, and the need for quality control remains a challenge for Tanzanian agricultural exports.

What is unique about this mission?

The delegates will have an opportunity to meet and explore synergies with government representatives and industry organizations as well as have one-on-one meetings with relevant commercial partners in Tanzania. Moreover, the delegates will have an opportunity to meet and explore synergies with implementing partners of the Danish development programs in Tanzania.

Who should join?

The delegation is open to participation from companies working within the agribusiness industry, e.g.,

  • Food technology and food solutions
  • Food processing technology
  • Agricultural materials
  • Agro-services, machinery, equipment
  • Biomass energy & solar
  • Small-scale irrigation
  • Quality control and food safety
