A2i Engaging with the President of Uganda on Partnership Building

On February 15, John Magnay, A2i representative in East Africa, had the distinguished honor of accompanying Signe Winding Albjerg, the Danish Ambassador to Uganda, and Yolisa Khantawane, Country Manager for Maersk Shipping, to the country home and farm of His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in Ntungamu, Western Uganda.

The visit was part of the EU-Business Forum initiative, aimed at briefing H.E. President Museveni on the growing engagement between Denmark and Uganda. This special occasion underscored the importance of strengthening international partnerships that foster sustainable development and economic growth.

During the closed-door briefing, the delegation highlighted key areas of Danish-Ugandan collaboration, focusing on expanding activities in grains, coffee, and avocado production. The discussions also covered advancements in irrigation, organic fertilizer solutions, black soldier fly farming, water safety, and green energy initiatives—areas vital to Uganda’s sustainability and food security.

“The invitation to engage directly with H.E. President Museveni reflects the mutual commitment to exploring innovative solutions that benefit both nations. It was a privilege to be part of this significant dialogue, which promises to further strengthen Danish-Ugandan cooperation across multiple sectors,” says John Magnay.

Our new A2i-project to improve aquaculture management

On 17. and 18. February, our new project, Aquaculture and Advocacy for Green Fish Farming in Central Uganda, had its first training on aquaculture techniques and fish farm economics with more than 25 participants from NGOs, local government, and aquaculture researchers.

The knowledge from this workshop will be used to train fish farmers in improved aquaculture management techniques during the following 15 months of project implementation.

The new project seeks to strengthen the organization and advocacy of small-scale fishpond farmers to engage in policy dialogue with local authorities, while building their capacities in sustainable aquaculture activities using green technology.

This will lead to increased income for at least 100 rural fish-farming families while contributing to a positive ecological balance between the fish farms and the surrounding environment.

The project is a partnership between Access2innovation, CAPCA (Caritas Uganda), CISU, and the Danish fish feed producer Aller Aqua.
